Case study: Counter
Hands on the biggest lever in the business.
Counter is the system I built for a multi-state hospitality group. It reads wages against revenue for each venue: where the week was, where it is, and where it is heading, quickly and accurately, with no spreadsheet at the end of it. I can build one around how your business runs.
Talk about yours
The Monday spreadsheet
Wages are the biggest lever a venue can pull from one week to the next. The number that says how hard to pull it lived in two places: revenue in one record, wage spend in another.
The ops manager matched them by hand in a spreadsheet. The figure arrived after the week it described, and only one person could produce it. Next week's roster was set against last week's memory.
Where it was, where it is, where it's heading
Where it was
Last week, checked against the accounts. The tills, the roster and the accounts are compared, and where they disagree the difference is shown, never quietly settled.
Where it is
This week so far, from till takings arriving through the day and the hours worked, as costed, marked provisional so nobody mistakes it for the final number.
Where it's heading
Next week's roster, measured against how similar weeks have traded.
Executives see the whole group. Each manager and venue operator is given only the venues they run.
The ops manager's method is now part of the system. What counts as wages, and how revenue lines up against it, is applied the same way every week, with nobody keying it in.
What it reads
Hourly
takings, as the tills report them
Three sources
takings, timesheets and the accounts, in one number
Two figures
provisional through the week, checked against the accounts, and the difference shown
What yours would read
Multi-venue operators set their margins week by week, venue by venue. A system can put that number in front of the executives and every venue manager at once, worked out the way your best person works it out.
I build the working system with your team, hand over every login, and come back when you ask.
